DAY CAMP FOR CREATIVES:
On January 26, 2019, my best co-conspirator Kim Valentine and I brought a group of keen creatives to Mariposa Farm— a sustainable water purifying farm just east of Ottawa. Our extraordinary hosts Ian and Suzanne provided us with snuggles from their animals, an educational tour of their property, a delicious homemade soup and sandwich lunch, and the freedom to create art in their space.
The idea behind Day Camp is to bring together like-minded artists interested in expanding their creative communities. Away from the distractions of the city, our next Day Camp at Mariposa Farm is scheduled for June 2019.
MONDAY, APRIL 15, 2019 (7-9PM)
ARLINGTON 5, OTTAWA
Some of the most well known female artists including Georgia O'Keefe and Frida Khalo painted flowers argued as “quite sexually suggestive.” While producing these pieces, it has been noted that they all coincidentally (wink, wink) experienced spiritual awakenings around their feminine power, sexuality, and/or lady bits.
An installation of Woolvas went on display at Arlington 5 for International Women’s Day 2019. With the Woolvas as inspiration, this playshop is your chance to paint flowers, a vulva, your vulva, a Woolva, or anything else that connects you to your feminine self. Playshop leaders Kim Valentine and Joss van Wynsberghe will guide and support you (and your best ladies!) in a painting class where you learn tips and tricks when working with oil paint. You will paint on a 6X6-inch canvas. If you are fast, you have the opportunity to paint another canvas for an additional $10.
$50 + $10 PER ADDITIONAL CANVAS AFTER THE FIRST
We acknowledge that embracing the power of our femininity and vulvas can be a tricky process sometimes. An emotional support aide will be available for check-ins throughout the playshop for your safety and comfort. Also, the event venue has an accessible entrance but no accessible washrooms onsite. Please email Jocelyn at email@example.com for any disability accommodations or concerns, should you require.
